Avviso di seminario
Giovedì 28 Novembre alle ore 14.30 presso l'aula "Signorelli" (Edificio "Renato Ricamo") il Prof. Alexander Shengelaya (Department of Physics, Tbilisi State University, Tbilisi, Georgia) terrà un seminario dal titolo

"Muon Spin Rotation Spectroscopy"

Abstract
The spin of muon and parity violation in weak decay belong to the field of high- energy physics. It is less known that these key concepts find important applications in modern condensed matter physics.
Because of a large magnetic moment of the mu+ (3.2 times that of proton) and unique time window for the dynamics of the surrounding local fields, one can easily detect a static and dynamic weak magnetic fields in the atomic-level microscopic space. I will describe the muon-spin rotation technique and its applications. Important results obtained in this field will be reviewed. It will be shown how muSR helps to explore the otherwise uncovered important material properties. Finally, recent developments in production of slow spin-polarized muon beam and its applications in study of thin film materials will be presented.
