My main scientific activities have included:
LIDAR remote sensing and applications to Physics of the Atmosphere: calibration and validation of satellite observations of ozone and aerosols, the study of polar stratospheric clouds and stratospheric ozone, optical properties of tropospheric aerosols, the liquid water content of clouds,  atmospheric monitoring for ultra-high energy cosmic ray observations, LIDAR networks.

The areas of specific interest were:
  • Scientific and operational management of LIDAR systems for observing vertical profiles of ozone and stratospheric aerosol content, mesospheric sodium, water vapor and aerosols in the troposphere and planetary boundary layer.
  • Radiative properties of aerosols.
  • Microphysics of aerosols.
  • Interaction of cosmic rays in the Earth's atmosphere.
  • Laser sources: excimer lasers, solid-state lasers (Nd:YAG), tunable dye lasers.
  • Telescopes, optical fibers and interference filters.
  • Sensors and detectors: photomultipliers, photodiodes, spectrophotometers, and field-effect filters.
  • Algorithms and methods for LIDAR data analysis.
