First-principles studies of electronic properties of real solids, bulk, surfaces, and interfaces:

Semiconductor/semiconductor and metal/semiconductor interfaces.

Calculation of potential barriers and alignment of energy levels in heterojunctions and their dependence on substrate, epitaxial strain, direction, intrinsic polarization. Tuning of ad hoc electronic properties for device applications.

Superconductivity: ab-initio studies of electronic properties of different compounds (high critical temperature materials and conventional superconductors); effects of dopants and substitutions.
